HISTORY

The Movement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art was created in 1989 in Geneva where it it based. It was formed by a group of artists and humanist thinkers who gathered together, convinced that the economic and legal domains were not capable of improving the human condition without the deliberate and free action of the cultural, spiritual, artistic domains which they represent. They came together in order to act for Art to become not only a means of entertainment or a personal enrichment, but a real force in development, in the defense of human rights, in environmental protection and in an awakening to protect human dignity.

The Movement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art worked with:

The Movement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art, created on the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution, is inspired by the humanist principles of Liberty, Equality, Fraternity and by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The Movement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art unites artists such as Jorge Amado, Pierre Amoyal, Rolf-Dieter Arens, Martha Argerich, Maurice Béjart, Christian Benda, Jean Luc Bideau, Norbert Brainin, Carybé, Jacques Chessex, Jesus Lopez Cobos, Finghin Collins, Dimitri, Charles Dutoit, Simon Estes, Hans Erni, Miguel Angel Estrella, Thierry Fischer, Renee Fleming, Patrice Fontanarosa, Zélia Gatai, Bruno Giuranna, Franco Gulli, Adrienne Hauser, Vaclav Havel, Barbara Hendricks, Nastassja Kinski, Matthias Langhoff, Yehudi Menuhin, Cristina Ortiz, François Rochaix, Vladimir Spivakov, Cheryl Studer, Josef Suk, Michel Tirabosco and Paul Tortelier. These artists give their talent to support the Etoile d’Azur   Help with Art campaign in favour of initiatives restoring human beings' dignity with respect for the human entity.

MISSION

The mission of the Movement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art is to raise public awareness for the supported initiatives, to obtain economic support for them in the form of donations and to make their rights recognized by those who are in charge of the legal domain. The Movement Etoile   d’Azur Help with Art, in the pursuit of its mission, is guided by its fundamental principles inspired by the Declaration of Human Rights: Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.

FUNDAMENTAL PRICIPLES

The fundamental principles of the Movement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art arise from the French Revolution. Liberty Every human being has in him, due to his personal capacities, a reason for living. He owes it his dignity. It dictates his acts, his choices, his way of life. The talent and the reason for living differ from one individual to the other. Everyone feels the desire to freely choose his training and activities. If one prevents him from experiencing what he longs for, man loses the sense of his life and henceforth his dignity. What use shall he do of all earhtly possessions, if they do not allow him the activities dictated by his conscience. On the other hand, if his work corresponds to a personal necessity, he shall want to work for others. Equality Every human being is entitled to his dignity. This dignity is based on cultural values which differ from one individual to the other. Each of us should benefit from an equal right to cultural difference. Fraternity Every human being works for others. The objects he produces are necessary for the development of others, and consequently for the whole community. In the epoch of division of labour, fraternal action, which consists in giving to others the objects we produce, is the essence of economic life, much more that an economy based on the sole profit not taking into account the necessities of each individual.

Man thus aspires nowadays to cultural liberty; he aspires to a law which allows everyone to benefit equally from this liberty; he aspires to an economy which gives in a brotherly way to each of us the objects and means of production he needs. These objects, produced by others, will allow him to realize his inner aspirations according to his capacities, to his talent and to his will to express them. The community in return will benefit from the product of his work. But numerous problems appear nowadays because the sectors of culture, of law and of economy, instead of each acting according to its own appropriate principle, interfere with one another:

• interference with the principle of liberty in the legal sector (free use of the law: Apartheid, dictatorships) and in the branch of industry (economic liberty based on the sole individual profit, abuse, corruption;
• interference with the principle of equality in the cultural sector (uniform education for all) and in the branch of industry (same means of production for all);
• interference with the branch of industry in cultural life (school and university programs dictated by economic needs) and in the legal domain (laws dictated by the sole economic interests).

The narration of the Little Prince by Saint-Exupéry reflects the aspirations of the Movement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art. The Little Prince illustrates the free human spirit visiting our planet. During his journey towards the Earth he meets characters living in other spheres and feels their influence: the king giving orders limiting our liberty, the vain man whose feelings are paralyzed by pride, the drunkard avoiding his inner self by forgetting, the businessman hindered by the power of money and calculation, the lamplighter following orders without understanding them and the geographer, dried out in his office listing and classifying information. Arrived on the Earth, the Little Prince meets the snake, the fox, and finally the pilot fallen in the desert. Like Antoine de Saint- Exupéry, each one of us is living here on Earth, influenced by all these spheres, which often mask the little prince living in us.

HISTORIQUE

Le Movement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art a été créé en 1989 à Genève où il a son siège. Il a été formé par un groupe d'artistes et de penseurs humanistes qui se sont unis, convaincus que les domaines économique et juridique n'étaient pas en mesure d'améliorer la condition humaine sans l'action consciente et libre du domaine culturel, spirituel, artistique dont ils sont porteurs. Ils se sont rassemblés pour agir afin que l'Art ne devienne pas seulement un divertissement ou un enrichissement personnel, mais une aide concrète au développement, à la défense des droits de l'homme, à la protection de l'environnement et un éveil à sauvegarder la dignité humaine. Le Mouvement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art a oeuvré avec:

MISSION

La mission du Movement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art est de porter à la conscience du public l'existence des initiatives qu'il soutient, d'obtenir pour elles un appui économique sous forme de donations, de faire reconnaître leurs droits aux responsables du domaine juridique. Le Mouvement Etoile d'Azur   Help with Art, dans la poursuite de sa mission, est guidé par ses principes fondamentaux inspirés de la charte des Droits de l'Homme: Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité.

PRINCIPES FONDAMENTAUX

Les Principes fondamentaux d'Movement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art sont issus de la Révolution Française. Liberté Tout homme a en lui, de par ses dispositions personnelles, une raison de vivre. Il lui doit sa dignité. Elle lui dicte ses actes, ses choix, sa manière de vivre. Le talent et la raison de vivre diffèrent d'un individu à l'autre. Chacun éprouve le désir de choisir librement sa formation, ses activités. Si on l'empêche de vivre les expériences auxquelles il aspire, l'homme perd le sens de sa vie et par là- même sa dignité. A quoi lui serviront tous les biens de la Terre, s'ils ne lui permettent pas les activités dictées par son for intérieur. Par contre, si son travail correspond à une nécessité personnelle, il désirera travailler pour d'autres. Egalité Tout homme a droit à sa dignité. Cette dignité repose sur des valeurs culturelles qui diffèrent d'un individu à l'autre. Chacun devrait bénéficier de l'égalité du droit à la différence culturelle. Fraternité Tout homme travaille pour d'autres. Les objets qu'il produit sont nécessaires au développement d'autrui, et par conséquent à la communauté toute entière. A l'époque de la division du travail l'activité fraternelle, qui consiste à mettre à la disposition d'autrui les objets que l'on produit, est l'essence même de la vie économique, bien plus qu'une économie basée sur le seul profit ne tenant aucun compte des nécessités de chacun.

L'homme aspire donc à notre époque à la liberté culturelle; il aspire à un droit qui permette à tous de bénéficier également de cette liberté; il aspire à une économie qui mette fraternellement à la disposition de chacun les objets et moyens de production dont il a besoin. Ces objets, produits par d'autres, lui permettront de réaliser ses aspirations intérieures en fonction de ses dispositions, de son talent et de sa volonté de les exprimer. La communauté à son tour bénéficiera du produit de son travail. Mais de nombreux problèmes surgissent actuellement du fait que les secteurs de la culture, du droit et de l'économie, au lieu d'agir chacun selon son principe propre, interfèrent les uns dans les autres:

• ingérence du principe de liberté dans le secteur juridique (libre utilisation de la loi: Apartheid, dictatures) et dans le secteur économique (liberté économique basée sur le seul profit individuel, abus, corruption)
• ingérence du principe d'égalité dans le secteur culturel (enseignement uniforme pour tous) et dans le secteur économique (mêmes moyens de production pour tous)
• ingérence du secteur économique dans la vie culturelle (programmes scolaires et universitaires dictés par les besoins économiques) et dans le domaine juridique (lois dictées par les seuls intérêts économiques).

Le récit du Petit-Prince de Saint-Exupéry reflète les aspirations du Mouvement Movement Etoile d’Azur  Help with Art. Le Petit-Prince illustre l'esprit libre de l'être humain qui visite notre planète. Lors de son voyage vers la Terre il rencontre des personnages habitant d'autres sphères et ressent leur influence: le roi qui donne des ordres limitant notre liberté, le vaniteux dont les sentiments sont paralysés par l'orgueil, l'ivrogne se fuyant lui-même dans l'oubli, le businessman entravé par les forces de l'argent et du calcul, l'allumeur de réverbère qui suit des ordres sans connaître leur pourquoi, le géographe, desséché dans son bureau, qui recense et classifie des informations, Arrivé sur la Terre, le Petit-Prince rencontre le serpent, le renard, et enfin l'aviateur tombé dans le désert. Comme Antoine de Saint- Exupéry, chacun d'entre nous vit ici-bas sous l'influence de toutes ces sphères qui souvent masquent le petit prince habitant en nous.
